The victim

Well after a lot of scouring Craigslist I finally bought a Miata for electric conversion.  It's a 1994 with the 1.8L with a 5 speed and all the options.  I was actually looking for a base model but I guess it's more parts I can sell.  The car is a good driver and he was originally asking $1800 but I talked him down to $1325 and set-up a time to get it after the snow cleared.  When I showed up it was obvious he had forgotten about it explaining he had been getting so many contacts from people that he couldn't keep them straight.  After a short test drive I told him I would take it.

When I handed him the money said "$1800?"  When I told him "No... $1,325." His smile melted away and said "Sh!# You are that guy!" :)

And continued, "Yeah, yeah, we made a deal..."  And shortly there after I was driving it home.

My plan for the car is two stages:

The first is a pretty straight froward EV conversion using the motor and controller I tested on the Leadwing.  I will get it running and registered keeping the rest of the car pretty stock

The second stage will be stripping the car down to a fair weather only superlight speedster.   No top, maybe even no windshield depending on how crazy I get.

First step now is getting the title transfered.  Always do this FIRST when starting a project.  You don't want to spend a lot of time and money before you find out your new cars was stolen.  Then is ordering parts....
